For 14 years, Donna has bestowed upon us her gifts of kindness, understanding, and an upbeat attitude; she has shared those special traits with all of us that have been a part of the Ball State Federal Credit Union family and, more importantly, each and every one of our members.
She has been very generous with her own time, getting the whole of BSFCU involved in “Relay for Life”, “Wellness”, and other worthwhile events, too.
We will miss her greatly, but we also will celebrate this new chapter in her life. Please join us for an open house honoring her and all she has accomplished here at BSFCU.
Dr. Donald W. Mikesell (left) recognized for his tenure on the Board of Directors by President/CEO C. Randall Glassburn (right).
The 61st Annual Meeting was business as usual with an addition of much due respect to Dr. Donald W. Mikesell.
Dr. Donald W. Mikesell (Don) served on the Board of Directors for 30 years, the last 26 as Chairmen of the Board. Mr. Glassburn, President/CEO, commended and recognized him for his contribution to the success of the Ball State Federal Credit Union. When Don joined the Board, the Credit Union was $20 million in assets. Since, we’ve grown to over $90 million in assets and nearly 15,000 members.
It should be noted that Don wanted no celebration! How could we not show our appreciation? With as little celebration as we could, Don was presented a framed and signed resolution with a keepsake mantel clock as a thank you for his dedicated, unwavering service.
A video clip of the meeting is available to view. The text of the resolution for Don is provided below, too. Please feel free to stop by and see the framed version at our main office.
Thank you, Don, for your tremendous service to Ball State Federal Credit Union!
Resolution for Dr. Donald W. Mikesell
WHEREAS Don Mikesell has served on the Board of Directors of the Ball State Federal Credit Union since 1987, holding the position of Chairman of the Board since 1991; and
WHEREAS his dedication and leadership on behalf of the members of the Ball State Federal Credit Union, and to the Ball State University community to which he has shown an unwavering loyalty, have been apparent through numerous successful products, programs, projects and partnerships that the Credit Union has undertaken; and
WHEREAS his commitment and dedication to the Credit Union’s nearly 15,000 members has been illustrated by not only his service on the Credit Union board from 1987-2017, but from his uninterrupted service as board chairman from 1991-2017 making him the longest standing board chairman in Ball State Federal Credit Union history; and
WHEREAS throughout his 30 year tenure as a Credit Union Official, Don has taken an innovative and dedicated approach to resolving the important issues facing credit unions, and has demonstrated a special leadership quality that has enabled the Credit Union to navigate through many years of economic prosperity and trials, with equal success; and
WHEREAS his leadership and commitment to supporting the ongoing efforts of the credit union, have led to credit union asset growth from less than $20 Million, to over $90 Million since he joined the credit union board.
Now therefore be it resolved, on this twenty fifth day of April in the year two thousand seventeen, that the credit union members here assembled at the 61st annual meeting of the Ball State Federal Credit Union do hereby commend and recognize Dr. Donald W. Mikesell for his contribution to the success of the Ball State Federal Credit Union, and wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that this resolution be incorporated into the minutes of this meeting and that copies be presented to Don Mikesell and to the Ball State Federal Credit Union.

Good news – the concrete at our Royale street entrance is being repaired! To do so, the entrance must be closed and not driven over for 4 days, just enough time for the concrete to cure. Now through the evening of Sunday, April 9th, you will need to use our Oakwood entrance to access our main office. Soon after, our parking lot will have pavement repairs, sealcoating and new striping.
Please be assured, our ATM, Drive-Up and Lobby will be open! For our hours and other ATM locations, please visit our website.
Our goal is to repair this quickly and resume normal access as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make essential repairs to our entrance and parking lot.

It is with heavy hearts we announce founder Edith Pittenger, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017. She was 104, 19 days away from her 105th Birthday. She was the one most responsible for Ball State Federal Credit Union’s existence. She started the credit union in 1956, essentially from her desk drawer at Ball State University.
Edith was a role model and a leader for the credit union spirit, People Helping People. She saw and understood the financial need of new faculty. “Most incoming faculty had just graduated from all their education and needed help immediately. That was the problem,” she said in an interview with Indiana’s Public Radio titled, “Bold Centenarian.” To solve this problem, she’d make her rounds at the University asking for deposits so she could make a loan to the new faculty member. In addition to her full-time role at Ball State University, Edith served as Secretary/Treasurer for Ball State Federal Credit Union until 1988. She served on the board of directors until 2004.
Many of us at the Credit Union spent so many years working for Edith, working with her while she was a member of the board of directors, and simply cherishing the time we have been blessed to have with such a special lady over the years. Edith devoted decades of time and energy toward the long term success many members have enjoyed. She loved life, and she was blessed with nearly 105 years of it!
To honor Edith and provide the opportunity for our staff to pay their respects, our lobby, branch, and phone service will be closed until Noon on Friday, February 10, 2017. Drive-up service will open as normal at 8 am.
We would like to update you on developments for CO-OP ATM. We also want you to know that your network remains the industry’s largest and most convenient source of surcharge-free access.
Deposits at 7-Eleven ATMs We need to alert you that CO-OP notified us that ATM deposit functionality will no longer be available at 7-Eleven effective December 31, 2016.
We know that the 7-Eleven ATMs are important points of access and they will continue to have surcharge-free access for withdrawals, inquiries and transfers. However, given the declining volumes and related expense of processing deposits, the business case to support the service is no longer viable at CO-OP.
CO-OP was also unable to reach a mutually beneficial agreement with Cardtronics or the merchant to continue CO-OP ATM access at Walgreens stores in Florida. The 781 Walgreens stores will no longer be surcharge-free effective December 31, 2016.
Again, CO-OP sought to continue these points of access, transaction volumes were very low. There are about 2,500 other CO-OP ATM locations in Florida with at least one CO-OP ATM within three miles or less of 90 percent of the Walgreens stores.
In addition, members will continue to have surcharge-free access in Florida at 7-Eleven stores, Publix Supermarkets, selected Kangaroo Express (Circle K) stores and many credit union locations. CO-OP is working to add retail locations to the network as viable opportunities are presented.
We thank you as always for participating in CO-OP ATM and please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have.
