Important Alert: Phishing by Telephone!
We want to make everyone aware of the telephone phishing scam that occurred last week here in Muncie. On Thursday 10/16, there were flurries of phone calls made in this area, allegedly from “Ball State Federal Credit Union Security”. These calls were placed all over the county, hoping to actually hit some actual BSFCU members. Most of the calls were from an automated voice, telling people that their “card” had been compromised. Some of those calls asked for a call back to one of several harmless phone numbers. Some provided a way for you to press 1 and key in your card number and CVV code. A few were even placed by a live person who could actually ask you for your card information. Please be aware that this was a random attack, and not the result of any type of loss of personal telephone contact data base information. Our primary concern is determining if anyone actually did provide card information to the perpetrators. If you received one of these calls and disclosed card information by phone, please report this to us at 765-741-2728 immediately! Thank you very much...
